Gratitude and Grace

Practicing gratitude is an essential part of focusing our intentions here at Grit & Grace Studio, and we have so much to be grateful for this year, both as a design house and as individuals.

Our team of mermaids is fresh off our first Mala Workshop, an experience that was restorative, transformational, and filled with love and joy.

The Grit & Grace Family gathered in our studio with open doors and open minds, building memories and focusing our intentions as we each handcrafted our own unique Mala Mantra Necklace. The morning was filled with laughter, empathy, support, more than a few snack breaks… and adorable babble from baby Josie and tiny woofs from Pita Puppy.

As we open our hearts and prepare to share the Grit & Grace Mala Workshops with you, we want to offer up our gratitude and blessings for the rainbows and silver linings of 2020.

Words of Gratitude from the Grit & Grace Family

Rachel

I’m grateful that I was raised by a strong, loving, kind, generous mother that taught me through example the true essence of what it means to have both grit and grace. I’m grateful to continue to be surrounded by the same energy by way of my work family and a strong tribe of women I consider to be my sisters.

I’m grateful for live music, my loving partner, my immediate family, and my chosen family. I’m grateful to live in Charleston and for all the amazing experiences it brings, including yummy food, beautiful people, time on the water, incredible art, oak trees, palm trees, historic homes, church bells, and epic sunsets. I’m grateful for you, and I hope you have the most beautiful day ever; One Love & Blessings.

I am so thankful for my time spent here in Charleston and the personal growth it has allowed me this year. Specifically, I am thankful for my position at Grit & Grace and the creative and professional outlet it has granted me. I have learned so much over the course of this year and can only hope to learn and grow more with the Grit & Grace family. The women and men I’ve had the privilege to work with have been a true source of inspiration for me in 2020.

They have overcome difficulty and turned what could have been viewed as a negative into a positive. I appreciate that attitude and strength more than anything. Lastly, this year has given me a chance to reconnect to nature during a time that has been so restrictive. I’ve explored all I could outside, and I have found so many hidden gems in Charleston! We are very fortunate. Count your blessings!

I’m thankful for my wonderful family and all the good times and wonderful memories we have had together. All the many opportunities that have been given to me have been a blessing that have made me appreciate life and live each moment to its fullest.

This year has brought a whole new level of gratitude to my life: a baby in my belly is such a miraculous experience, and one that I wake up to every morning with a feeling of bewildered joy! I’m so thankful I have good health to harbor this little boy, a wonderful man as my partner and best friend, and especially in awe of the strength, support, and love from my family and friends. Oh, yes, and also especially grateful for my fur babes Trout and Pita. They bring a lot of rambunctious energy,  fur balls, and love to our tiny house, and remind me to live and love with all my might.

I’m grateful to be MARRIED! We had a lovely little COVID-era wedding with our immediate families, which was all about finding the joy in the present and cherishing the simple things (like jumping in the lake with your new spouse!).

I’m grateful that my sweet floofer, Gatsby, made a full recovery from an invasive surgery this year, that I married the nicest boy in the world, and that I finally found my dream home in the mountains. This year, more than most, I’m also so incredibly grateful for every moment with my family, especially my parents. This year might be an absolute dumpster fire, but we’ve found a way to make some s’mores, I guess!

Despite everything, 2020 was a year that brought me more gratitude than any year prior. Our beautiful baby girl Josie John was born in June right before Father’s day and the summer solstice.

The global happenings in 2020 and our little summer of love baby (our first!) have really made me slow down and, more so than ever before, understand and practice, practice, practice the art of living in the moment and looking at the bigger picture.

Shortly after our little girl was born, we celebrated our 1-year anniversary. Both my husband, Eben, and I have discussed how grateful and lucky we are to have one another, our little girl, families, and friends that are happy and healthy, and still have businesses that are surviving despite the current global situation. Those riches absolutely do NOT go underappreciated in our household.

I am thankful for my good health and the health of my family and friends. This year wasn’t the easiest, and I am grateful that my immediate family has maintained their good health. I am also thankful for my amazing Rottweiler, Marley, as well as the new and exciting opportunities that will present themselves as I grow with Grit & Grace Studio! I couldn’t ask for a more supportive, caring, and exceptional group of women to work with. I am so lucky to have found them! Last but not least, I am thankful for our Creator, who blesses me every step of the way. I look forward to what 2021 brings!

I am so grateful for enduring friendships during this crazy year. 2020 has pushed all of us in different ways, and I have found comfort in (digitally!) connecting with old and new friends. Strangely, I have never felt so connected to the ones that surround me.

I believe that everyone needs a little extra support emotionally and mentally right now, and I am so thankful that my friends have been shining bright for one another! A small amount of love and positivity can go a long way in a time like this!

I am reminded daily how lucky I am to have such incredible family and friends. They are truly my anchor and stability in this crazy life! I’m always grateful when I can eat with them. That’s probably my top two favorite things, friends/family and food. Everything else comes second to that.

I’m grateful for the opportunity that this job has given me to be with the ocean and the community.

While driving around Charleston to bring oyster shells to the port, I am fortunate to make connections with the city and spend some time by the sea every week.

I am thankful for the lifelong friendships I have found here and that I can make a difference for the environment while studying for my marine biology graduate degree.

My Grit & Grace family has truly been a blessing to me this year, and I can’t wait to see what this amazing team accomplishes next!
