Introducing the Mala Workshop

We are so incredibly excited to share our newest endeavor with you all: the Mala Workshop.

Our best-selling Mala Mantra Necklaces have long been a favorite of the Grit & Grace Studio team not only because of the distinctive beauty inherent in their design but because we so love the process of creating these intentional pieces.

The Mala Mantra Necklace pays tribute to Buddhist prayer beads, which are spiritual tools to help calm the mind, connect to one’s center, and focus on intentions during meditation. Each Mala Necklace consists of 108 beads to use as a tool in reciting your mantra and a Sumeru or "summit" bead to remind you of the purpose of your practice.

We have cultivated a workshop centered around the meditative, intentional process of creating these works of art and the bonds of sisterhood and family.

Our team gathered in the beautiful Grit & Grace Studio Flagship for an afternoon marked by open hearts, welcoming prayers, peaceful music, a tea service, and stunning beads. Each Mala Necklace and each experience was as unique as the individual who participated, and we are delighted to share their words and experiences with you below.

Mala Workshop Testimonials

Rachel:

The Mala Workshop was a true gift to my soul. It was time well spent with clear intentions, joy in my heart, divine creativity, sisterhood, renewal, and grace.

I left the experience feeling loved, grounded, open-hearted, grateful, and with a necklace that reminds me of the sweetness that comes from sisterhood and living through the heart.

Gail:

There is a quote that describes creativity as sharing one’s soul with the world.

The creation of the Mala Necklace is exactly this. You curate, deliberate, meditate, and reflect on each element of the design, and in the process, you become more and more in touch with your inner sense of being; you are manifesting a core energy that shines through the colors and formation of the jewelry.

This particular Mala Workshop was shared among ten inspiring, strong, uplifting women and friends, and it brought peace and a restorative sense of purpose to each of our spirits. The Mala is truly a powerful piece of art that shares your soul with the world!

Locksley:

I loved learning about the origins of Mala Necklaces and the intention behind wearing them.

The Mala Necklace consists of 108 beads. Each bead symbolizes a prayer or a mantra that one says to oneself. The necklace is meant to be used in meditation, which I felt throughout the process of making my own.

I was so happy to see everyone in their creative element and the finished product at the end of the workshop.

Clayr:

This Mala Workshop challenged me creatively and spiritually.

I brought a picture of my parents to think on while I assembled my prayer beads. This picture is one of my favorites; my mother has an arm looped around my dad and is cheesing away.

I felt so blessed to be able to reflect on my family while creating my Mala Necklace.

When I shared my experience with my mother, she told me she had been pregnant with me in the photo I brought to the workshop. I couldn't have asked for a more soul-happy moment!

Mary Beth:

Getting to create a Mala Necklace was inspiring and fun. I enjoyed working with co-workers and friends to make something so beautiful. We all shared stories and experiences that made the time together very meaningful.

Melissa:

I attended a Mala Workshop with my clients, and it was amazing for our working relationship. It created a safe place for us to connect, have fun, and discuss real life outside of the workplace.

Kat:

I came into the Grit & Grace space with an open heart and mind and was rewarded with welcoming energy and bustling excitement.

From the opening prayers, the selection of beads, to the meditative bead stringing, I felt grounded, connected, and focused. My creativity was graciously fed with an array of stunning stones, beads, and charms to create something unique to me.

Not only did I walk out with a beautiful and unique Mala, but with a feeling of happiness, a glow of positivity, and many beautiful memories!

Reese:

Treat yourself to a Mala Workshop: you will walk away feeling centered, connected, and at peace.

The entire experience is thoughtfully structured to focus your intentions in a calm and creative atmosphere; it’s like treating your soul to a spa day.

Jessica:

I absolutely loved the Mala Workshop.

The whole experience was magical from start to finish, an exquisite environment to relax and create. I loved setting the intention to tap into our inner genius to create freely and intuitively. The bead selections were out of this world gorgeous, and choosing them was so fun.

I especially enjoyed the meditative practice of threading beads with other women while enjoying easy, connecting conversations. Seeing the unique beauty of what everyone created was incredible, and my favorite part was witnessing how everyone lit up when they put their creations on for the first time!

It was such a great, heart-opening way to share time and energy. My Mala represents all of the wonderful memories made; a perfect keepsake and a great addition to my wardrobe!

Stevie:

When I entered the studio, the workshop was refreshing and aesthetically pleasing. A beautiful tea party was set, candles were burning, meditative music playing, and the station was decorated with the various Mala beads, ready and waiting for us to partake!

We were encouraged to bring a memento of a loved one to honor during the workshop, and so I brought a photograph of my beloved grandmother who passed away from cancer three years ago, and having her there with me felt all the more special.

I recommend that everyone, no matter what age or gender, participate in the magic that is MALA! I built a stronger bond with my tribe, and my grandmother was with me in spirit throughout the entire workshop. I couldn’t have asked for a more soul-satisfying experience!

Quentin Baxter:

For the past 25 years, I’ve sustained a tradition to celebrate my mom and daughter on my Born Day. Technically, I consider my date of birth to be my mother’s “birthday” since she was the one who gave birth to me.

As you can imagine, after 25 years, it has become quite challenging to discover creative ways to honor these two extremely important women in my life. This year as I pondered, my lovely partner Rachel suggested that I make Malas for them, with each Mala specific to their personalities as it resonates with me.

For me, this experience and these gifts are by far the most personal and spiritually edifying to date, and I believe the Malas were received as such knowing that they were actually created by me. These Malas represent such a fulfilling manifestation of my intentions and prayers for both my mom and my daughter.

We invite you to us for a Mala Workshop experience of your very own. Gather your loved ones, and prepare for an unforgettable experience filled with sisterhood, creativity, peace, and reflection. Your Mala Necklace will be both a gorgeous, intentional work of art and a token of the memories made and bonds strengthened.

Let Grit & Grace Studio curate a team-building or holiday Mala Workshop specifically for your company. We look forward to connecting with you and hosting your transformative, creative evening.

One Love & Blessings,

The Grit & Grace Family
