Grit & Grace Staff Picks: Mix & Match Handmade Lowcountry Jewelry

The combination of wearing the Ocean Earrings and Mala Mantra Necklace is my absolute favorite. I find the Mala Necklace very calming and grounding. It always helps me find my center and stay true to my intentions.

The Ocean Earrings remind me of my favorite place on earth, where I feel most connected to the source. The combination of being grounded and connected keep me living in the moment during the busiest of days, and for that, I am grateful.

Using my penmanship to decorate treasures for others is such a joy. The dishes are so much fun to do, and I like to think I share a little of myself with each piece. Even though the dish is not a piece of jewelry, it makes a special place for your jewelry. Sending a special handwritten note along with the gift makes it very personable.

Sea glass has always appealed to me, starting from an early age. It is truly beautiful the way the ocean’s waves can tumble and transform what was once a sharp piece of glass into something smooth and calming.

Our adjustable pearl bracelet is a seamless match to the Moxie necklace. Pearls are similarly valued for their calming effects on the wearer and are known as a symbol of sincerity. Each piece harbors its own special property that can be worn with intention.

There’s a lot more to the Coastal Calm Necklace than meets the eye, particularly with the Imfibinga seeds holding the delicate shell. I love that it tells a story of its own. Further that with the bumblebee bracelet: bumblebees do so much for our plant environment, and I love what they symbolize. Wearing each of these is a way to embrace nature’s reminders of inner calm, beauty, and strength.

I love a glamorous, eye-catching pair of earrings. My style tends to be understated and simple these days, so I gravitate towards jewelry that’s a sophisticated statement all it’s own. The Kiawah Island Earrings are so easy to pair with all my favorites, from a dressy jumpsuit to a simple white sweater and jeans, and the Mantra Bracelets are such a fun, playful way to stay focused and centered.

I’m not sure if I have a set style, but most days, you could probably call it boho with beachy vibes. I love adjustable necklaces like the Grit Bolo Necklace because I always wear layers of necklaces- a locket in memory of my brother, a gold chain my mom gave me, and then another one layered in.

I love the Lagoon Ocean Earrings because they symbolize the natural beauty of lagoons and how they are bodies of water that are separated from the ocean by reefs and barrier islands. My loving family and friends symbolize the barrier islands in my life that sometimes act like a deterrent from a harsh world. I feel a special connection to this piece because, like a lagoon, I try to embody myself with warm waters and peaceful vibes.

To match with the earrings, I chose the beautiful Golden Tide Necklace. I chose this piece not only because of the eye-catching pearl-wrapped chain, but also because of the stunning hand-painted craftsmanship of our very own Mary Beth! This necklace pairs well with most G&G products, and I love the simplicity of never having to worry about coordinating outfits around this piece… it works well with just about anything!

I am a simple kind gal, and I love anything dainty, small, and understated. The Little Folly Beach Oyster Necklace is always my number one choice when it comes to petite perfection!

Whenever I want to jazz up a simple outfit, I always reach for my Angel Oak Earrings in Rose. When I first moved to Charleston, I immediately fell in love with all the Spanish Moss draped across the trees. These earrings always remind me of the beautifully naturally decorated trees in the Lowcountry, just with a little more sparkle and shine!

The Gold Bug Necklace is a beautiful expression of my style and my work: a little bit of grit and a little bit of grace! This braided rope necklace is studded with classic gems and pearls, reminding me of ships at sea. I am happiest when I am working with my hands by the water, and the rough and shine of this necklace brings me back to that: collecting oysters in the dirt and watching the evening light bounce off the waves and the ships at port.

The Kiawah Earrings are the perfect pairing as they remind me of the life below the ocean's surface. Close your eyes and picture yourself as a shell looking up from the ocean floor. A beam of sunlight cuts through the glassy waves. It wraps around vines of sea kelp that twist and dance, stretching towards the surface. This scene is what comes to mind when I choose the Kiawah Earrings, with their delicate gold leaves twisting toward an ocean blue gem, a subtle reminder of the Deep Blue that I can add to any ensemble.

In my opinion, there is nothing more awe-inspiring and serene than the ocean. I fell in love with our Ocean Collection Earrings from the minute I saw them.

I’m kind of an earring fanatic: they're definitely my go-to accessory. The Breakwater Earrings are a dream, they truly are captivating, and I love that they resemble an aerial view of the ocean breaking along the coast! They are my favorite addition to a simple tee shirt and jeans.

When I do rock a necklace, our Mala Mantra Necklace is my go-to. I put on this beauty, and I feel calm, centered, and grounded. The blues and greens go with pretty much everything, and I love the tassel! It’s a fun piece, and I almost always get compliments on it!
